About:

Picture
City of Greater Dandenong has recently appointed @leisure Planners to undertake a Soccer Hub Design Concept, Feasibility and Business Plan.

The purpose of the Plan is to determine whether such a facility is required and if so, what facilities such a hub would include, where it should be located, how it can be funded, and prepare a design concept and business plan for the preferred facility.

Progress to date:

  • @leisure has held several lengthy meetings with FFV and have had a tour of the Knox Regional Soccer facility
  • @leisure has visited the Kingston Heath Soccer Complex
  • @leisure have telephoned all clubs to discuss their comments and views, and made contact with 14 schools
  • @leisure's director has visited the Soccer 5’s facility and the Central Coast Mariners Centre of Excellence at Tuggerah in NSW
  • We have undertaken site inspections with Council of the key sites being investigated
  • We have analysed the overall soccer participation and membership figures for CGD
  • We have analysed CGD’s demographic profile and made some projections in relation to the catchment around potential sites
  • We have evaluated the reserves in terms of the best possible site for a soccer hub in CGD and concluded our findings
  • Two sites have been looked at in more detail and preliminary sketches have been prepared for Council consideration
  • An executive meeting has been undertaken by Council
